This is definitely aquatic and solar, fruity and beachy. It’s not tropical and thick but it’s like a refreshing and cooling after sun lotion rather than a suntan/sunscreen lotion. I have the EDP intense version and I don’t get much strawberry but there is a fruitiness to it, sweet for sure. But on an aquatic/ozonic backdrop. It has a sparkly, aldehydic tonality to it but no vintage feel… it lends a fizzy expansiveness to the fragrance. There’s a little prickly green nuance probably from the cactus note in here. Cashmeran x Jasmine makes me think of a very airy Mugler Alien—but this is NOT the personality of the perfume, it’s just something I’ve observed and can lightly sense in here. The base is still quite sweet, slightly woody, more musky than anything with hints of vanilla.

It’s a Summertime/Spring perfume. Very pleasant and easy to wear. Refreshing and sophisticated. Kinda has a Zara type feel to it, though.

Sabina8019

I absolutely love this perfume. Sweet strawberry in the beginning, and then turns into sophisticated, summery scent.

Candied Jasmine, Orris Root & Beachy Vibes...

Opens with citrus, that has a sugar-crystal texture to it, with lipstick-y orris & strawberry swelling through. It seems like it may go in a La Vie Est Belle Lancôme direction, but then there isn't any obvious patchouli to take you there. Instead, the candied-jasmine & orange-blossom come forward while orris & a woody-musk base support. The jasmine is more forward here than the notes would suggest, with a sugar-crystal texture of candied-jasmine I also get in scents like Black Opium Yves Saint Laurent & La Vie Est Belle Lancôme. The solar notes here don't read like sunscreen or beachy to me at the start, but I get something that's almost cooling, not quite aquatic or fresh, and gets fluffier & beachier over time. I agree with Fragnant below, that this is a "weird one for sure." I would put it half-way between CK IN2U For Her Calvin Klein & La Vie Est Belle Lancôme with a dash of beachiness. With all these different types of vibes, this is probably quite versatile although doesn't strike me as "new". I just have a sample, but performance is slightly above average for year round wear and it smells nice. 7.5/10. Enjoy!

Fragnant

Definitely a weird one for sure. I would categorize this one in with Escada Magnetism, Stella McCartney Pop in the feminine concepts and experiences. The kind that invokes memories that you take for granted. Doesn’t market as a lipstick scent but I get classic powdery lipstick in the opening and it becomes fresher, ultra SWEET throughout. Don’t do more than 2-3 sprays. I left this one in its box for 2-3 months and it has managed to survive a declutter. With spring coming soon, I think I can appreciate the cactus flower , strawberry, and solar notes.

miarose

I managed to find a new, sealed bottle of this, and it smells familiar. I looked through the "similars", and I think this is somewhat like Pure Turquoise, which I had at one time, but gave up because it was bit too green, too aquatic on my skin at the time (maybe it's not now, but since I don't have it anymore, I can't say). Arizona is much sweeter, with the citruses, beachy and salty, with solar and more underlying fruit notes mixed with that cactus flower not that is also present in Pure Turquoise. I also revisited my Dame Perfumery Cactus Orchid to see if this is what I'm smelling. It's almost too sweet, though, even though I detect a bit of cactus orchid/flower. If not for that, at least on me, I'd like this one more. Because I love this particular floral mixed with the salty beach and solar notes, because it's not too green or aquatic. I just think the sweetish citrus notes interfere too much.

lemoniecakez

I realize so many people dislike this scent but i love it. i also realize i’m picking up some different things than other people. A lot of people in here say they can’t smell any sort of green smell, but i definitely do get that from the cactus flower. it’s like if you took a dandelion or some sort of white floral and smushed it around mixing the flower with the crushed stem. i really like that. i’ve never smelled anything like this scent before and i’m honestly in love. it definitely is a sweet fragrance but i actually don’t find it TOO sweet, but then again i have a lot of fragrances that are just straight sugar vibes. DEFINITELY a certain point where the scent becomes quite powdery and gives mild grandma vibes, but also doesn’t because of how it mixes with the other notes. the dry down is stunning and i feel like it comes with so much warmth. i find this really works with my skin. at first i didn’t notice the saltiness but after seeing reviews i kind of see what people are saying. i really just get a warm green floral with a certain sharpness to it while also being powdery and soft?? i guess that’s probably the saltiness to it.

PeacefulSunshine

There is something quite... salty(?) about this one. I can definitely see why it's called Arizona... it feels like a desert but somehow it also feels suffocating and sour. Maybe it's the cactus flower--I've never smelled that before so perhaps that is the scent that is throwing me off. I'm trying to think of what type of woman would like this. Not a very feminine one at all. Or a boss bitch either. Maybe a bohemian hippie outdoorsy gal who lives in the Southwest? I feel like Nomade by Chloe should have been this scent.

Not for me.

joshuaerlinger

Yes, I understand. The Proenza Schouler Arizona perfume has a very pleasant non-cliche flower note that is not overpowering and seems fairly balanced. The most distinctive element of this fragrance is the salty or solar-ness that adds a unique touch. I think you could layer Proenza Schouler Arizona with other fragrances that need more salt or solar notes easily.

cgaleb

There’s something about this that reminds me of my beloved cheapie Faan Thanghum, except something about Arizona is more bitter and oddly sweet (possibly the cactus flower mixed with the various citrus), and I don’t like it nearly as much as I thought I would on first sniff. The solar notes do give it a brightness, and it is also very strong for the first few hours. I have to say I’m not a fan of this and find the sweet floral too cloying, too loud, too artificially sweet for my nose. If you like this but want something a little lighter, fruitier, and more balanced try Faan Thanaghum!

RaggedyAnn

What do you get when you cross a desert with a lake? I don't know either but it's what this smells like to me with a definite cactus flower. It's a safe scent leaning towards unisex for me.

Janna97

Extremely powdery and spicy, headache provoking scent, not a safe blind buy!

Vanillastorm40

I believe I may have left a negative review on here about this fragrance, or I intended to at one point in the past. I'm going through samples again and I'm trying this one again today. I REALLY like this. I'm a little confused though by the fragrances mentioned in the "This Reminds Me Of" section especially Sun Di Gioia and Beach Walk. I find nothing remotely beachy about this. This actually reminds me like a lighter version of Givenchy L'Ange Noir and Floral Street Iris Goddess. I'm definitely getting a makeup-y creamy and powdery iris/orris/nutty vibe. No fruit, definitely no strawberry. And I'm not sure what cactus flower smells like but I'd imagine it probably has a green and watery almost aloe like scent to it if that makes any sense. Like that green and vegetal type smell you get when you break off a piece of aloe from a plant. That's what I imagine cactus flower to smell like but I could be way off with that. I don't really get anything like that from this fragrance. I really like it though. Powdery, it has a nutty ground up sesame mixed with iris and old school makeup powder compact and some lipstick type thing going on. I like it and I don't have anything like it in my collection other than Iris Goddesss and L'Ange Noir. Might have to get a FB. Longevity and projection are both decent.

Lovely246

Very sweet and beachy on me. Like rollerblading down the Pacific coast at sunset with saltwater drying on your skin and a stick of juicy fruit in your mouth. I love this for summer.

TDSollog

Imagine being in an oasis in a desert, with blooming cactus nearby. You have clean linens on a table, and a bouquet of flowers on it, and a bowl of citrus fruit and strawberries. The sun is rising.
That's the vibe of this fragrance for me.

Cherry_Darling

First spray I thought oh no. This is going to smell basic. But I'm really warming to it - turns quite powdery, only for a moment, and yes solar - not sure what cactus flower smells of however this is a touch aquatic and salty but not in a wet kind of way - it's fresh, a touch green, salty. Really grew on me!

SarahTheBoss

This was not a love at first sniff for me. At all. I had it earmarked for selling for several months but because I'm lazy I never got around to it. One more sniff before committing to parting ways and here we are. I'm keeping it.

I really pick up on the lipsticky aspects - powdery and waxy - especially early on. The strawberry is synthetic but I've yet to ever find a natural smelling strawberry in perfumery. I don't smell any vanilla or anything overtly green. The green is more in the background, with faintly strawberry-ish powder dominating. Sillage is quiet but longevity is very decent. It definitely evokes sun and summer.

vibrant.girl

I get cactus flower, strawberry, and orange blossom - sweet and bright but with a 'watery' center (not blue or aquatic, but like a juicy berry you bite into and feel the juices squirt). It can definitely lean to a canteloupe place, or watermelon, like other reviews stated. On the dry down, the scent turns drier - musk + cashmere give the 'sandy' effect of the desert. This isn't a sexy perfume, but it is light and enjoyable. I'm glad I picked up a bottle at TJMaxx for <$20, to enjoy for the summer.

jesssmells

This is a nice warm solar scent. It does give desert vibes to me, but at the opening I always smell cantaloupe. Maybe that's how I'm reading the strawberry? Solid like for a simple, sunny daytime perfume.

hazelnut333

an awful perfume that unfortunately lasts a very long time. the smell of pencils was interesting at first but it eventually started to make me feel sick. the hair and body oil was 10x better

Eugenia Olesen

Arizona smells like skin after the sun with spf cream. Creates a mood of cozy tranquility. In cold spring, in cool but sunny weather, this fragrance gave me memories of summer days, it was also some kind of anticipation that summer will come soon. I close my eyes, inhale the Arizona and simply being transported to the sand heated by the sun. Big like from me

SophiaViolette

Stunning opening of warm, light and powdery fruity notes. I very quickly detect notes that are earthy-aldehydic and musky from the base notes.

As the citrusy notes fade away, the strawberry gets noticed, very subtle and organic. Definitely getting a blend of vanilla, jasmine and orange blossom, also very subtle, enveloped with a cashmeran-musky cloud.

Difficult to say anything about the cactus flower note, generally they smell green-floral in person, very light, not sure what type of cactus flower was used, nor what smell exactly it has in this perfume.

Overall It’s a light, warm, floral, feminine, with earthy-musky tones to it that are different from what most perfume use as their base notes — sandalwood, patchouli, cedar, oud — that are just redundant. But not here.
I feel as this perfume is underrated and a “department store gem”, glad it isn’t known nor worn by everybody.

Okay, so here’s the deal! This is one of those scents where I have to say, I agree with mostly everyone on both hate/love spectrums ! Lol.

When you first put this on the skin, it turns a little nauseating. I agree with the people saying that it’s like something rancid or something cheap, which they are not wrong at all! However, that all goes away pretty quickly. The dry down is very very similar to Beach Walk and being that I bought this perfume for 18 bucks, I think it’s a steal. It also very long lasting ! There are soooo many notes to this perfume but the main one that I can say you’ll be able to pick up on is this synthetic lipstick smell and this makeup bag sort of smell.

I do not smell much green to this scent and I do believe it is fairly very sweet! I don’t smell citrusy either. I do believe that it’s one of those fragrances where it smells better on clothes and where others smell you from far lol. It is loud and I think it can def be nauseating if you over spray!

4.0/5 as a fragrance for me ! I def like it though.

Frejaaa

I guess strawberry notes just don’t work for me.
Although they don’t have much in common in terms of notes, this had the same effect on me as “Her” by zadig voltaire since they both almost made me throw up.

sweetstar1

This scent is powdery and sweet then it becomes warm, dry and earthy. I like the opening but am unsure about the dry down.

opining.olfaction

Welp, on the 3rd wear, it became a YES for me!
At first spray all I got was strawberry, something green, and another note I can't pin-point that definitely let me know I was wearing a perfume...now though, after about 4 hours, when I sniff my arm I don't get anything remarkable, but as I move about doing what I need to, I get whiffs of beautiful lipstick and powder. It's not over the top abstract to me, but it is a nice and pleasant smell that makes me feel like a lady! For $25 from TJ Maxx, I can live with it and feel it is a decent addition to my collection.

clairesque

This is a really easy-to-wear lipstick scent. It has waxy and powdery components to it, but they're balanced nicely by the fruity notes. Personally I find the scent a little bit TOO sweet and fruity, as those accords beat out the cosmetic notes as it wears.

bren400

This comes out really screechy and reminds me of Masaki Matsushima's Au The Vert. It took me a long time to remember but I believe I got it right. All I could've sworn I smelled was tea but I don't see it listed as an ingredient and I KNOW for sure the "tea" note i smell isn't cactus flower cuz I LOVE the scent of that. Don't get me wrong, I love a green tea scent. Also, I detect some melon after about 15-20 minutes. Overall, this fragrance is not for me.

Vanillastorm40

This is really um, different 😕. It smells like a green stem and it must be that cactus note. I really don't sme much else. I don't think it smells even remotely like Sun DiGioia or Beach Walk. There's nothing tropical about this. Pass. Glad I tried it though. Oh and it's pretty beastly. Sampled it yesterday and could still smell it on my hand this morning.

venussansfurs

Sweet and fruity with a lot of mandarin orange and strawberry. Similar to Victoria's Secret's Very Sexy for Her 2 but more of a daytime version...if you miss that one, it's a good alternative. Smells like sherbet. Nice sillage on this.

Tammie 124

This is a strange one. I tried it in winter and didn't really think much of it but I tried it in 34°c heat and it's a totally different scent. To me it has about the same amount of amber as bronze goddess the perfume and so it can be quite cloying. In very small quantities however, it is quite pretty. I'm not getting the gummy bear scent that others are. I do get a bit of strawberry and definitely amber and solar notes. There is also some kind of saltiness which is kind of like a good sweat smell and a bit powdery/lipstickey. I think it's a lovely perfume but it is not fresh at all and I don't live in a hot enough country to be able to wear this often.

DarlingNikki

And now for something different! This smells strange and yet familiar to me. I get a Root Beer ice cream float vibe from my sample mixed with an unusual note (the cactus flower I'm assuming) along with the makeup powder scent. It's not my thing but I do like it. If I see it at TJ Maxx for the great prices listed here I'll definitely pick it up to play around with it more because it has some good potential for a cozy bedtime type of fragrance.

paranoka

I've been eyeing this at TJ Maxx (I thought the box looked "expensive") and when I finally saw it on clearance for $18 I blind bought it. And I'm glad I did! The opening kind of surprised me as it was a powder compact smell - kind of like when you're a kid and you play with your mom's makeup? That kind of smell. I didn't totally hate it though. Once it dries down that's when you get the citrus and strawberry and cactus flower, which works surprisingly well with the powder compact smell. Normally not crazy about powdery notes but I really like this one as it feels modern and summery.

update: definitely a summer fragrance. could NOT wear this in the cold weather bc of the makeup-ey powdery note lol

betsyglez8

Strawberry cactus notes ,
Bergamot orange is there
This reminds me of a fragrance ,
But I can’t remember right now .
It’s this sweet tangy note , that after a while Can be too much , it’s not bad , it’s nice , I feel it’s great for sunny days . Yet a bit generic smelling .

foomybomb

I also bought this at Marshall’s for $18. I saw one tiktok mentioning it so I picked it up. I wasn’t expecting to like it at first sniff. I immediately thought it smelled mature. But on the skin it really transforms, and in the shower it smells heavenly. At opening the fresh jasmine note is very strong for me and then it dries down to a sexy vanilla. Cant stop smelling it, can’t stop wearing it. The perfect summer scent for me. I’ve never felt this way about a perfume before. Definitely buying another bottle if I see one.

mermaidylady

Blind bought a 1.7 oz bottle at Marshall's for $18. I really don't care for this at all. Definitely has a makeup/lipstick vibe in the beginning. It stays powdery and turns sweeter as it develops. I'm not getting the solar notes.

My juice is orange instead of pale pink? Wondering if my bottle went off. It was sealed though. Idk. Whatever the case, this isn't for me! Shame, because the bottle is really pretty.

aweso10

i was pretty conflicted based on the reviews that i saw, but arizona really smells lovely on my skin! i was worried it would smell overly makeup-ey and mature, but the cactus flower and fruity-floral notes really do make it feel fun and light and summery! i like that this scent does have that lipstick-ey vibe without being to heavy, like a fresh pressed powder compact mixed with red berries, citrus and musk. the orange blossom and jasmine are a little disguised by the intense cashmeran and orris base notes, but they meld together super nicely!

a safe blind buy and something that i feel would be enjoyable for a variety of perfume wearers!

twiztidladii

I’m so disappointed. I sprayed onto one of my tester strips and there was no smell. I literally had to touch the tip of my nose to the paper to get a very very faint whiff of something. So strange. I don’t know if my sample was off or what.

Bubbles1964

Cactus flowers? No. Strawberry gummy bears? Yes.

dm7918

Would consider this as very fruity, heavy on the strawberry. Not floral or woody at all. Not sure what cactus smells like, but it must also smell like a sun warmed strawberry as well. Good staying power, can still smell it after 12h, slightly musky at that point. Nice summer scent.

natluvly

I've read notes and reviews on this one many times and always thought I'd like it because the reviews were mostly hate and those types of scents I always love because I feel they'll be unique.

So I finally blind bought this on mercari and just received it. Sprayed it on paper and it was strange but still intriguing. Im usually not eager to test things on my skin right way but this time was different. I sprayed it on my hand and wow. Im getting just these whiffs of a perfectly blended floral woody scent, I've never smelled anything like it. Reminds me of something in Olympea but different.

This is inspiring me so much and nothing had managed to accomplish this in a while. I'm now sitting here thinking of outfits that would go with it. I love when this happens and its been a long while. Could it be a signature or the closest I've come in a long while? Idk but for now I'm going to focus on enjoying it!!

Update 8/22: I found a backup bottle at tjmaxx shortly after posting this review. Glad to have a second bottle since I think I heard this is now discontinued. I paid $26.99 for the backup but I think I got mine before they were marked down.

wondervalley666

This is listed as a "floral woody musk" scent... why? This is a fruity sweet lipstick summer scent. There is no wood in this, not in the notes listed nor in my sense of smell. I love woody scents, sandalwood and coconut combos are probably my favorite fragrance genre, but that isn't what Arizona is. After multiple wears of both, I actually find this quite similar to the first 30min opening of MM Beach Walk, only more fruity and less sunscreen-like. I didn't initially make that comparison, but I definitely see it now and actually think Beach Walk is the closest scent to Arizona I've come across.

I don't get much noticeable florals, I can sense the rose but it's quite subtle, even more subtle than Lancomes Tresor Nude, which is a fragrance I'd put in the same family as this, though Tresor Nude is a sexy drunk vanilla coconut rose and Arizona is a softer fruity daytime "safer" version.

The sweet strawberry is probably the most dominant note, it was one of the first smells I picked up after spraying and it remains dominant, though it's a powdery makeup strawberry, not a super tart youthful body spray kind. This may be amplified by the cactus notes - I have a large cactus garden, and yes, the pink fruit/berries do have a similar taste and smell to Arizona. If you've ever had prickly pear iced tea, jam, or those cactus candy gummies, it's very similar to the fruitiness of this scent.

I also get a lot of cashmere and powdery/waxy lipstick makeup notes. The cashmere note reminds me of Mugler's Alien Goddess, only AG is more jasmine/tiare dominant with that classic Alien DNA.

Arizona isn't "mature" but it isn't a typical teen scent either. It also reminds me a bit of Olympea, only more fruity and minus the salt. Also, Givenchy's L'ange noir EDP int he powdery/makeup notes but a more summery/daytime fruity version. You need to be a bit of a makeup/lipstick scent fan to truly appreciate this - the makeup scents do fade and blend into the background, but they give a vibe to the overall scent that I think is what reviewers mean when they describe this as "dry" or "dusty." I own FBs of each of the scents I've listed and compared in this review, and like them all a bunch, so this one fits right into my collection. If you aren't a fan of those types of scents you may think this has a waxy or synthetic vibe to it. You also need to like cashmeran, it's the dominant sweet note similar to Alien Goddess and it's what gives this a light sweet musky scent. Even though some reviews and note pyramids claim Alien Goddess and Arizona are "vanilla" dominant, it's cashmeran. Not cupcake-gourmand, instead it's more of a sweet-rich and clean musk. This does not smell like Soleil Blanc in any way my nose can identify, SB is more "expensive sunscreen" to my nose, while Arizona doesn't have that orange flower/coppertone note and feels much more versatile.

I blind bought this fragrance reluctantly, as it isn't the cheapest, but I NEEDED to know what this smelled like as the reviews were confusing and mixed, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Not the most unique fragrance. Not a beast mode scent, especially in cooler temps, but I very much enjoy this scent in the desert summer heat. It usually takes an hour or so for this scent to fully develop on my skin. For the first hour or two, this perfume is faint, almost disappointingly forgettable. After two hours, I give myself a light refresh/touch up, and I begin smelling my own body chemistry radiating this fragrance all around me in a sweet cloud that feels clean and relaxing. Make sure when you test, you give it a full wear and time to develop, as it may take awhile to get the full effect. Also, if you spray this on paper, it will smell like little to nothing and will never smell anything like it does on skin. It isn't a huge performer on paper test strips. It needs skin & body heat to open up.

I'm pleased enough with this that I bought 2 backups, as this is discontinued but still available many places for a good price. I own a lot of perfumes, but this snuck into the regular rotation, and I'll be sad to see it go when I finish my bottles.

TDSollog

I spotted this at my local TJMAXX, and picked it up because it was rumored to smell like Beach Walk and Sun di Gioia. I sprayed it on and went through a couple stores today and got told that I smell heavenly. Score!!!

SophiaG

Immediately reminded me of Beach Walk by Maison Margiela, just less creamy with a prominent strawberry at the top. I really enjoy both Beach Walk and this fragrance, but I remember having a difficult time wearing BW and it makes me hesitant to buy even a travel spray of this.
I definitely suggest this for people who like airy, delicate fruity florals - it's very beautiful and I am very impressed with this house in general. I definitely suggest sampling this, as it seems like most people would like this easygoing summer scent.

Dark, incense-y strawberries on me.
Initial spray is big.. big
But soon settles into boozy rich strawberries
It's a keeper

LateBloomer

This is a mirage in the desert; dry air, blazing sun, vast expanse of sky, lush succulents dotted with sweet blooms surrounding shimmery water. A very unique and hard to describe scent. It is linear, projects well, and lasts about 7 hours on me.

I get no lipstick, maybe some powder? And maybe strawberry, but it is mostly airy, watery, sweet and dry on me. I am looking forward to wearing it in the summer months.

MrsMRe

Maybe it's because my first try was on a cold winter day, but I got almost nothing but vanilla (?). It's a clean, dry, warm vanilla with a tiny hit of citrus, but that's just about it. I'll try it again in warmer weather, but this didn't make a strong first impression. Just meh.

suckit95

I really, really wanted to love this, but it's just ok. It really does have an opening of melting crayons, but it settles down into a very subtle skin scent. I bought a sample, but I wished I loved it, I love the bottle! Over all, I would not recommend this fragrance.

taryn renee

I purchased a deeply discounted bottle from a favorite online store, along with other perfumes. I received what has turned out to be a collector's edition bottle-- They basically stuck a pink and black animal striped sticker on the back of the bottle.

I sprayed it on paper, and I was obsessed with smelling it. So I sprayed on skin, and was obsessed. Woke up in the morning, having dreamed of it, obsessed, had to spray again. Smelled it on my hair 24 hours later, and had to spray again. This is how it has gone since I've acquired it. I think of it, I smell it, I need to spray more.

My experience doesn't match any of the other reviewers below. It lasts forever on me. It smells super good to me. The scent I get at the beginning is the scent I get all the way to the end. I can't even articulate what I like about it!

It says in the description that the notes are:
orris, cactus blossom, jasmine, orange flower, solar accord, musk and cashmeran.
There's apparently no strawberry, rose, vanilla, or any citrus notes.

YesVeruca

I got a sample of this ages ago and just ignored it until I needed to go away for a weekend and grabbed it. WOW. This is lovely and unique. I just sprayed it on and dismissed it as another La Vie Est Belle/ Black Opium genre scent but with solar/ozone notes. Eight hours later, I could still smell it and it was beautiful. Understand the comments about smelling like makeup - would put it in the lipstick smell genre but I LOVE that. And the solar notes. Really nice. Glad the sweet died down but let I’ll leaves a hint. Wayyy more complex than I gave PS credit for!

churinl

I received a sample of Arizona in a subscription box just prior to it's release several years ago. I was intrigued and excited to try what I think was Proenza Schouler's first fragrance. All I can recall is that there was something about this fragrance that completely through me off- a note or something that I recall smelling very much like a chemical. Reading through these positive reviews now, I'm scratching my head, wondering how my experience could have been so different than others. This seems like more than a chemistry issue. The fragrance they are describing- a powdery lipstick scent - is usually right up my alley, yet I can't recall anything even remotely like that! I really disliked it and through out the remainder of the sample.
Now I am totally intrigued! What would a second try be like? Would I pick up on any of that lipstick smell this time around, or would I again experience that nauseating chemical smell? I really need to get my hands on a new sample or decant and try it again. Right now I just know it was a strong dislike for me. We shall see if time, chemistry, and tastes have changed enough to appreciate it.

OTA Mom

No one who has actually ever set foot in Arizona would make the connection with this powdery strawberry orris fragrance. That said, it is pleasant and a great representation of the "lipstick" subgenre.

MAKSTR

First 2 hrs it's like I opened the long closed pantry and all that stuff inside the spices, pulses, flours, sugars etc gone stale. After 2 hrs the harsh annoying sweet smell fades and you can smell rose, jasmine and musk with few other notes combined and the scent is bearable OK at that point.
The moment I smelled it I knew my wife will dislike it and I was right. Good thing was a sample. So much for my first cactus flower scent.
Stays for about 4 hrs on skin.

This perfume is truly one of a kind. I love powdery yet mature scents and this fits the bill. The initial spray is very soft and sweet but the drydown is amazing! It sticks around no matter where you stand, sit, or rub leaving behind the smell of a luxuriously but not pretentiously put together woman. This is definitely my go to for any season but it fits perfectly in the late summer days right before fall and right when the weather develops a chill as the sky turns orange. I absolutely adore this perfume and cherish it as one of my signature scents.

LesGirls

The lipstick scent is definitely discernable to me but there's also this smell that reminds me of something that I can best describe as "rocks." I don't know how else to explain it but it definitely hits an expectation of how I imagine Arizona to be.

citrinemalachite

This is really interesting. It does smell like makeup. It smells dry and powdery and dusty. I think the dry quality is supposed to evoke the desert. The strawberry note is very subtle. I don’t notice the citruses much at all in the opening. I barely smell the florals other than the orris. Overall it feels like a sophisticated slightly sweet laundry musk and makeup-y sort of skin scent. It’s a little too sharp and musky for me, so I don’t love it. I can see people who are fans of the Narciso cube line loving this one, it reminds me a little bit of those. It also reminds me a little bit of Alaia Blanche, although that one is even more powdery.

itsalwayssunnyd

to me, this is the quintessential lipstick perfume. other fragrances that "smell like lipstick" are too on the nose...this one is perfect. It paints a picture of a glamorous, gorgeous woman getting ready. She's at her boudoir, having just put on powder with her powderpuff. she does it methodically and elegantly. the smell of powder is still in the air, as is the faint smell of hairspray and a just applied perfume. now she moves to put on her lipstick, a 90's lipstick that has that classic smell. she's not shy with it, but it still looks understated and feminine. all together, all these scents, are Arizona. now why its called arizona is beyond me, but lets not even dwell on the unfortunate naming. it takes me back to being a child watching my gorgeous aunts getting ready in the same room, with all the lipstick, 90s perfume, and hairspray. and watching them transform to looking like 90s supermodels after its all done. such a treat!

I found my way to Arizona via Ralph Lauren's Pure Turquoise, only discovering Pure Turquoise, long after its discontination. Arizona has the same light, but enveloping vibe, and registers deeper and sweeter due to the strawberry 🍓 top note and vanilla in the base.

Arizona has a dry but almost shimmery feel to it. This could be an effect of the solar, perhaps? It's a perfect summer reach when the temperatures soar and you don't want heavy sweetness. I gave it my before bed test and found it to be quite long lasting, especially if you sleep hot.

If Pure Turquoise is the crisp linen business suit of summer fragrances, then Arizona is the sundress and sandals or tee shirt and shorts.

Vanille78

I don’t know why this doesn’t get more love. Like other reviewers here, I have nothing else like this in my collection and it’s also the most commented on perfume I own. Every time I wear it, someone compliments it.
To me, this is a high summer heat perfume. Fresh but thankfully not aquatic. A hint of powder (I own many powder perfumes so I don’t consider this one to be overly powdery) and not remotely cloying. It’s a perfect easy wear, office friendly, daily option that is just different from the endless fruity, sweet and aquatic’s pitched for summer.

I love it. I highly rate it and I have stashed back up bottles. I’ve also just purchased the ‘Intense’ version though I see Frangrantica doesn’t have a listing for it yet. I’ll try to leave a review for it once received.

Dontcallmeshirley

Update: There’s also something in it that reminds me of Gucci Flora EDP.

Dontcallmeshirley

I really love this! It reminds me of a less spicy Kenneth Cole New York (round orangish bottle). I can’t discern any cactus flower or solar notes and I don’t smell lipstick. It smells like a floral woody musk to me. It doesn’t smell cheap or generic in my opinion.

emerson10

OK so the opening was super playful and fun: a very youthful, girly powdery orris note. I really got the orris and strawberry and it was a combo that just made me HAPPY.

Then comes the heart of the fragrance and somehow I lost that unique fun opening and it became Lancome Idole x Black Opium -- which is just too cloying for me.

Smells a bit like they didn't know where to take this one, so they took it everywhere. I want to try this again, because I just really enjoyed that opening, but damn I don't know if I can take the dry down.

perfumesniffer

oh my. this smells like melted crayons under a car seat in a hot minivan.

bintTapputi

Edit 08/2022 - Bought a bottle at a great discount ($10) and I have to say regularly wearing it now, I really enjoy it. It has a plastic-y, lipstick, summery sunscreen vibe. I originally had tried it in the cool of March which is NOT when this perfume should be worn. In the 85+ degree humid summer, it really comes across as very playful and youthful. 7/10

Too faint and fading, and reminds me of those knock offs you can get from 5below. Nothing remarkable about it. 4/10

Perpetual Collector

Arizona (the perfume) is so beautiful. Out of my almost 500 bottle collection, i have nothing that smells remotely similar. Does it actually smell like Arizona? Not at all. I've lived in Phoenix since 1997, and past few years Phoenix literally became a place where your house smells if you open the windows. Every outing, your hair smells so bad that you just have to shower again, even though you showered before you went out... Smell of Arizona is literally dog poop and pollution. I'd say that only place that would remotely smell like Arizona ( the perfume) is a Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall, but i doubt that is where the perfumer drew the inspiration from.
As for the perfume, i am unable to single out any notes. It is like a fairy tale, just powdery enough, flowery enough, fresh just right, and sweet to the perfection. I never experienced anything quite like it. If it was a tad sweeter it would just be another designer, mainstream mess, but Proenza drew the line exactly where a line should be in order for Arizona to fall into niche category. I am honored to have it.
By the way, bottle is way prettier than the picture portrays. Great performance as well.
Absolute love for this one.

raw umber

This perfume smells amazing like strawberry lipgloss, decadent orris butter powdery lipstick, and radiant orange blossom sunlight, but it gave me the worst blistering contact dermatitis rash I've ever had! : (

My skin doesn't usually have allergic reactions to fragrances and I've tested a TON including extraits, attars and all kinds of potent stuff. This is the only one that makes me look like I have poison ivy. Please pm me if this happened to you too from wearing Arizona. So sad...

Christie-Jack

What can I say, it's a head turner and my fella loves it. I have just the one bottle that he bought me and I am midway through it. I am cautious not to use it too eagerly as I have been told it has been discontinued. With that in mind if anyone knows where I can source this amazing perfume I would be so grateful.
I did see it in the airport but not sure if that is still the case.?

Brynn Penelope Harrell

Ooooh! I love it!

madamerosie

I got a sample of this and was anxious to try after reading reviews, since it does not sound like my style. overwhelmingly sweet and young at first, the dry down has me inhaling deeply of citrus, berry, floral/cactus, and a soft lovely creamy base. its been 6+ hours and i think this scent is just starting to get good. extremely sweet, but not delicate or innocent. Reminds me a lot of VS and Gap body sprays from high school in the 90s without the cheapness, and it occurred to me that this scent might actually work really well with cigarette smoke. Its a bit distracting and a huge departure from my usual scents but i think i'll end up using the travel size up, especially in warmer weather.

AlexandraShea

When I bought this, I smelled the scent from the bottle and it smelled amazing. It reminded me of a less intense "Nest: Midnight Fleur". When I sprayed it on my wrist it was a little more rough and I got a lot of cactus. A few hours later it was all cactus. That is all I smelled. I decided to try again and also spray some on my flannel shirt. On the second wrist application I spritzed and let it sit there rather than rubbing my wrists. They now smell like a toned down cactus, with orange and a little powder. It's nice. My flannel shirt however- WOW. It smells exactly how the perfume is described by the makers. Its an explosion of so many scents and is warm and very deserty. I think this is what they meant for it to smell like. I recommend if you want a light fragrance, spritz on your wrist and don't rub. Or if you want the ARIZONA Proenza Schouler full experience, spray it on your clothes.
I like it a lot and will buy another when it runs out.

bourcet

This scent is wild. I received this as a bonus sample to a decant I ordered on eBay. I was a little perplexed because the sample was only 1/4 full so figured maybe this frag was fire and this person was sending me this used sample as a “check it, this scent is fire” gesture. But anyway, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I feel like Proenza Schouler fell off the map for me. Like, I forgot they were even a Very Important Designer. Arizona Muse, the appropriately named muse for the brand, seemed like a distant memory of all the models who were ever models. 2020 has fractured many things for me, including my recollection of this brand and their ambassadors. Anyway, before I get into a novel, I’m just saying that I had zero notions or expectations from this.

Upon first spray, you’re hit with a big, sweet, juicy opener of Double Bubble. When I first sprayed this on the card it came with, I was like “oh, that bubble gum note like in Tom Ford’s Champaca Absolute” which I believe is also similar to Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Oud Satin Mood. Look, this fragrance isn’t a one dimensional thing and I also believe pH plays a role here. The way it smells on the card is totally not the way it develops on my skin. So I get why some people are hating it, saying it’s disgusting; this is not for everyone! I’m not even sure if it’s for me! I think I get very different aromas based on my skin, the temperature, weather or not I’ve showered, etc. I’m still working out the notes here because it’s a little jumbled and complicated but I still like how it shakes out.

I think if people are expecting a more mineral, herbal, woody, scent, evocative of Arizona the state, like tumbleweeds, blooming cacti and javelinas roaming mad, they may be a bit disappointed. This is a little too gourmande if your expectation of the scent is going to skew heavily on Sonoran Desert Vibes rather than being a nod to Arizona Muse, the female model. The solar notes skew very decadent floral; my nose gets a lot of iris, with some of that licorice-y anise root that I guess is what makes bubble gum taste so unique.

I will say that I do not like how this dries down. After the initial orris storm settles, the fragrance begins to feel discombobulated. The notes that remain feel overly synthetic and cheap. The floral cohesion still remains on paper but on my skin it breaks down into something …else. It’s not bad it’s just different and weird in a way that I can’t exactly place.

TL;DR: Imagine chewing Double Bubble with the wrapper still on.

Swedelish

Someone sent a carded sample. I looked at the card and thought no way I'm gonna like it. But I told myself, "Be nice. Just because looks cheap doesn't mean it's gonna smell cheap." So I gave it a chance. Worst mistake of the day. What even is this!? I don't mean to offend, but this is the worst thing I've smelled since my Claire's shopping days. It smells like rancid fruit and the cheapest musk on earth. I can't give a proper description. If I could I would. But the notes are such a jumbled mess that it smells like nothing, yet somehow everything all in one and I don't want to try to make sense of it. Worst than that, it's strong. Not even a long, vigorous scrubbing could remove the stench from my skin. I've never heard of this perfume nor the brand, but I will not be testing another one.

annelisemaurer2560

When I first bought it, I was like "no, give me searing desert, not lipstick!" But since sitting around staring at it a few years, I appreciate it way more.
It's creamy-dry, calm fresh/sweet, comforting the way an older person who can fix your problems is comforting. Give Arizona the keys and do what she says and get your shit together, but stay chill. Maybe dress better and grow up a little, too.

MelodyMalfoy<3

The first time it smelled really good, but when I used it again it smelt soooo bad...it smelt nothing like the first time. Kinda gave me an headache too

labonvie

Um...no.
I do like the bottle. I like the concept and the notes themselves looked promising. In reality, this smells more like a tropical drink than anyplace in Arizona I’ve ever been. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Sonoran desert. This fragrance fails to capture anything related to its inspiration. There are so many beautiful smells in the desert! A scent that could capture that would be amazing. As this dries down, I get hints of an outline of a dusty, salty, green fragrance. But it’s all been smothered by fruity sweetness. It’s as if they created a great cactusy, dusty, ozonic, after a monsoon type of scent and then somebody panicked that it wouldn’t sell so they dumped in a bunch of fruit. Basically, it’s a fragrance that tries to please everyone and ends up pleasing no one, least of all the people that would seek this out. So sad.

Edit—this smells a bit like Dolce Garden. How disappointing.

Christie-Jack

I adore this unique fragrance.
There's a woody element, almost like reams of fresh paper that is clinically clean with a sunny breeze blowing through it.
Sadly it has been discontinued but I would snap up a bottle here and there if the opportunity arose.
It's a fresh, clean, somewhat floral, woody fragrance with an element of candy gloss mixed in.
It's really lovely.

JuneBug_89

It’s nice. Good for that transition between spring and summer. The solar notes are warm and comforting- however, the salty, almost Oxonian aspects of this fragrance ruin it for me. I don’t do salt in fragrances - it does not mesh well with my skin- so pass on this one. If it did not have to salty notes, I would love it, though!

freddinos

I totally disliked Arizona. Having lived in Arizona I was so eager to get this, but the smell was beyond bad to my nose. In the beggining I could detect dusty iris of the LVEB variety, and after that it was just so indistinguishable. Sweet and nose piercing with a salty undertone that came off as a weird egg smell on my skin. Beautiful bottle that evoked rock formations in the Sonoran desert, but the actual perfume was not for me. I returned it as soon as I could

Vegas Pauli

Kind of weird but in a good way. First blast is like make-up face powder, the old-fashioned and vintage kind. Once it settles its smooth and sweet but that solar note keeps all of the other notes trapped behind it and it is very unusual. This is linear and a one note scent, but kind of distinctive at the same time. I don't get the Arizona desert reference at all, I get less desert wind and arid sand and more make up powder and a soft well rounded fruity-floral sweetness. In spite of all this, there is something elegant and expensive smelling about it and I like the fact its subtle and not in your face. Too bad its discontinued as I can see this having a following. Overall, thumbs up.

Girlnamedsandoz

I can't say I'm impressed with it. I was expecting so much more. It really does smell like a generic older style perfume. It's a bit harsh. I very much wanted to love it, I love the wilderness and warmth of Arizona (the state) and I wouldn't put these two together. I will try this perfume again, in summer to see if it changes.

rbickel6

I'm surprised at all the negative reviews. I recently went on a massive perfume hunt, trying everything, ordering tons of samples, the well known and the not well known. Arizona was one of the first testers I got and I really liked it--can't say I was blown away, but it was very very nice, and one spritz lasts all day. Then I tried EVERYTHING, and as time went on Arizona kept growing in estimation. It's so bizarre to me that people say this is not distinctive because one thing I'll say is that it doesn't smell like anything else. I couldn't forget it. So many scents blurred together but this stayed totally unique. In the end I payed for a full bottle and I am so happy with it.

It's clean, fresh, and expansive, with tiny explosions of sharper notes. It doesn't conjure up cacti or any particular desert flowers, but to me it does convey dryness and immensity, a huge wide open sky. It's simple, beautiful, lovely. I usually like more musky, full bodied scents, and I usually don't like anything "fresh" but this works. Its not particularly sweet. It smells like the color, a clear, light orange. I guess, get a tester for sure before you buy!

Update: I've been living with this for a year now and it's only gotten better imo. I adore this scent. It's so unusual. I would hardly even describe it as a perfume. It's a mood, a dreamy state, gorgeous and understated. The only thing I can compare it to is a cocktail on an open deck at dusk, watching a flaming orange sunset. Absolutely in love with it.

auroramaria

I tried the Intense version
of Arizona yesterday and even though I adore the original the Intense is even more charming with a more intense cactus flower and richer vanilla and powdery iris a real treat

PeachyGin87

This was a blind buy at TJmaxx and much to my surprise I like it. The initial projection is strong, a sweet tart mixed with a dirty honey, and then lower layers of grass and air.

This fragrance reminds me of summer.. summer at a county fair with all the novelty foods, it captures the joy and innocence of a youthful excitement. This is something I would look forward to spraying on after a hot & humid summer swim, the kind of swim where you have a layer of sweat from the air being the same temperature as the water. This reminds me of a pure, passionate romp with a new or old lover at a motel. This is something I would spray on during a hot summer day with a bias cut silk dress & a layer of glistening perspiration... Or after the gym.

It does not have lasting power, it is short lived, but enjoyable while on. It reminds me of a generic and short lived copy Robert Piguet fragrance, I can see where this was the inspiration for this fragrance. If you want a more serious fragrance buy a Robert Piguet, if you're not a snob, try it out.

Joys of life

Smells like a designer imposters line of spray fragrance; kind of loud and sweet and overripe. I think it’s indicative that the top notes on the right are mostly fantasy notes, which reflects pretty well on how unnatural this smells. Not a fan.

shushkin

Well that's a big surprise. I was really expecting something special and different. It's just typical sweet mainstream.
I don't recognise the solar note or cactus for that matter. It's just sweet and heavy.
Where's the orris butter?! I get a big wallop of cashmere wood and sweet fruit. The musk isn't very evident either.
It hangs around for ages. Suffocating you with its sickly sweetness in this warm room.

trabuquera

Looks so weird and creative and offbeat, so why does it smell so dull and generic so fast? This is what happens when a fragrance tries too hard to be all things to all people, and ends up as an undistinguished blur.

Some respect for its lovely orris-y opening, all powdery and buttery and realistic... but whatever solar and cactus flower are supposed to smell like, on me the accords just merge into something vaguely fruit-mixy, disappointingly girly and - in all honesty - like something much much cheaper from H&M. Slight hint of something nearly interesting and woody, but it's barely there. Overall this just leaves the lingering sweetness and wisp of floral from a long-ago-opened magazine scent insert. Glad others smelt its kinship to Gucci Bloom, which is definitely there - I guess it's the absence of Bloom's bullying tuberose which makes Arizona much more tolerable to me.

But come onnnnn! Call it Arizona and put in cactus flower, and I wanna smell real herbs and grass and dust and sunlight, not just some totally vague aura of powder-sweetness with an even more indistinct hint of something green. Was really hoping for something more challenging, but in the end this is just standard, mall-grade-nice, and nothing more. It's reasonably classily done - I wouldn't scrub it off me, it's balanced and discreet enough to be bearable even if you don't love it - but just a bit flat overall. Just a big shrug, in the end.

Amanjo

Scent: this is a sunny, sweet floral. It's quite fresh, soft and creamy. Probably a tad too sweet for my taste, but still very nice. Quite generic, but I do reach for this one quite often. 7/10

Who/where/when: contrary to the campaign, this does not say wild, mysterious or adventurous to me. It smells like kind, sweet, classically feminine women. Good for everyday wear, especially in summer.

Longevity: moderate.

Sillage: moderate.

catmeow

This deserves the hot desert name, starts off like a blast of sun and wilderness. It's really the first thing that comes to mind, so the solar notes are definitely dominant, there is something very citric on top of it, not sure if this is strawberry or orange, but to me it's a lot of fruity sourness and cactus on a dusty dry cashmere base. And the cashmere grows stronger fast.

Love it so much for summer and happy about the fresh greenish cactus scent, which was the main reason why I wanted to try it. So it could be a favorite.

However, it's a bit pricey here and despite the notes it's not an unusual scent and I'm pretty sure there are many others like this one, even though few are listed. Can't name them, but I came across solar scents like this before, probably everything citric top note/cashmere based will do.

FabulouslyLazy

At long last, Arizona is mine!!! This perfume is sweet, but it's an unusual kind of sweetness counterbalanced by orris. No idea of what solar notes smell like, but I do get a cozy warm feeling. Then it's powdery, almost almondy, and with a hint of strawberry. Real gorgeous in June weather, so much so that I received plenty of compliments. A solid like that might turn into love.

Tesse77

I did wear this scent all last summer, and i loved it. Warm, sexy, and still fresh and not to heavy. I tryed to wear It this winter, but its not a winter perfume. I think whats missing is the warm sun smell on my skin combined whit this scent who is a winner in hot summerdays. I will wear IT again this summer. Try IT on a hot summer nigth, and you will see what i mean.

ANNAFRYS

I know Arizona well.. sonoran desert and Scotsdale... Sedona vibe.. yes.. parks, and Apache trail, Tom's Thumb.. and Desert Botanical Garden.. smells like.. herbal.. stones... wild flowers...

The concept is interesting... but it has nothing wild in it...nothing so clear and visual as Arizona is.

i think Anat Fritz Classic match better for desert vibe than Arizona... but I am thankful for the contest of Arizona my fav place in the planet...

thecoffeeslayer

The opening seems very fruity to me.

After drydown, I get prickly pear and nopales. I have no idea what this 'solar accord' is, but there's something a little burnt in the background. Not desert-like, more like the ashes off of a BBQ grill? Acrid. It's not strong to me, just a little unsettling. I guess they were aiming for grilled cactus (nopales)? A flowers in the background. In that, it does remind me a little of suburban Arizona right after dusk. (Scottsdale is where I'm thinking of)

The acrid note does seem to go away after a while. The nopales become more prominent, the prickly pear/fruit blend starts peaking in/out and is much less strong. The flowers become more prominent. It smells a bit fresh (orange blossom, FTW). Nice after the acrid note.

And then *bam!* pineapple (piña/ananas). I am not kidding. I currently smell like pineapple, soft white florals, and osmanthus?! It doesn’t go away. It’s like that for the rest of the day (though the orris does get punchy at times). This lasted 8 hours on me.

Feline opinion: My cat seems to find this a comforting fragrance. She was super clinging/loving while I wore it. ¯l_(ヅ)_l¯

Phantomias

Solar notes ... I didn't know such things existed. Anyway, this perfume called Arizona has these notes, and a whole bunch of others to evoke the feeling of the Sonoran desert.

Well, at this it fails. I've lived in Arizona and loved the Sonoran desert, which is an incredible place but nothing in the perfume reminds me of it.

The powerful orris note is almost astringent, and the woody notes clash with the cheap musk and fruit notes. Why is there a strawberry note in this scent? Cactus fruit I would have expected, even chili or some type of citrus.

AZ the perfume is a muddled mess, like so many designer scents. It does have very good lasting power and sillage. The bottle's attractive, but that doesn't make up for the stuff inside.

seaside

I wish I could I actually review this "scent," but unfortunately, I can't smell anything after the initial application. If I bury my nose in it quickly, I get something, but it's indistinguishable.

Quite a shame considering the price. :-(

Barbarella1902

I did a swap today and I’ve got a 30ml bottle. It reminds me of Gucci Flora, it’ a very nice fragrance for summer time, I can detect red fruits and rose as well, it’s strong and long lasting.
It’s perfect day and night and it could be so good with warm weather and summer breeze!
Lovely!

churinl

Really disliked this. I received a generous sample in a subscription box and I was very excited to try it. On my skin, it smelled artificial and almost rubbery. I believe it is the cactus flower and the strong solar notes not playing nicely on my skin, though I have worn other solar scents with greater success - looking at you, Tom Ford. I see many have noted a similarity to Gucci Bloom, which I love, but this just smells harsh and almost acrid to me. In retrospect, after reading the reviews, I wish that I kept the sample and gave it a few more tries because I would love to smell what many of you are experiencing. But my aversion to this scent was so strong, that I immediately gave it away.

_christine_

Great googly moogly..sooo much solar. It's hard to explain but this is like being blasted by the sunshine in the high desert.

Overall this scent doesn't quite work for me. There's a bunch of synthetic dry and woody notes, but what is that strawberry doing in there? Arizona is okay, not a favorite, but acceptable.

It's definitely one to sample just to experience that solar overload.

masako_30

Arizona smells so exclusive to me.
It seems that nobody's wearing it here in my country, maybe it's nearly unknown or no one likes it, who knows?
Geranium peeps out and it's delightful (even if not listed). Sillage and longevity are remarkable.
I can't see any similarities with Sun di Gioia Armani. If anything, it has something in common with Girls Can Do Anything Z&V (at my nose, obviously). Strong like!

forkingpaths

I badly wanted to like this because the presentation is killer. This is possibly the best bottle design I've ever seen, and I'm a Diptyque hoarder.

But the scent is generic. Imagine any inoffensive mainstream floral, except with a higher price tag. I agree that it's similar to Gucci Bloom, but an inferior version. At the time of this review, I rarely see this going for less than a hundred dollars, and sometimes considerably more. It just doesn't deserve to cost twice as much as Bloom does.

stitcherista

Having lived in a Western US desert for several years I thought I'd like this one, but no. Sniffed it when it came out at Saks, got a sample vial to go. A week later I opened my sample collection box and was repelled by the smell. Narrowed it down to that one vial and chucked it in the bin.

It's targeted more towards to the under 30 crowd, I think. I'm over 40 and prefer woody Orientals so this is an absolute no-go.

perfumeaddiction

I just got a mini to test. I thought it smelled familiar and low and behold thank you Fragrantican's yes it does smell very much like my bottle of Sun Di Gioia. It's a pretty perfume that is floral and sweet without being super sweet. the sweetness would probably draw in a more youthful crowd but they cleverly added floral to pull in other age groups. Initial silage is big and it continues to have nice aroma 30 min after application. I find this box very likable. It's got a vintage look to it and it's simple. The bottle is pretty average. All in all if you like Sun you will like this one.

AHeartLikeMine

I received a free sample of this in the mail, and was shocked that it was an absolute delight to my nose! It's sweet, but not too sweet. It's youthful, but also graceful and mature - like someone who has seen the world, but hasn't lost the vibrance and wide-eyed wonder of a child. This is not some generic modern fruity floral. It has a lot of depth, and doesn't remind me of many other scents I've smelled before. All the notes are blended together so perfectly that you can't really pick out individual notes, although I think the cactus flower and orris accords might be what I smell most. Everything about this fragrance is perfectly balanced. It lasts a decent amount of time on my skin, drying down to a light floral, faintly powder scent, and has moderate sillage. Be careful to have a light handswith this one! One or two sprays is plenty. I tried three, and the powdery aspect of this fragrance became very apparent, even heavy. I have never committed to buying a full-size bottle before, but I think this one is my Holy Grail scent!

Christine 78

I got a lot of leather (?) Now five hours in, and a lot of handwashing later, I can still smell it.
Now there is a mild citrus sent om my wrist.

pauroj

everything about this juice is just ok , the bottle is ok but not drool worthy , the fume is ok but not buy worthy IMO , is ok i liked it is sweet , clean , it won´t bother anyone but at the same time no one is going to be wondering what are you wearing ...so is ok

LeanGreenBean

I'm so surprised at how synthetic this smells. I expected better from a design house like Proenza Schouler. I live in Arizona so I was excited to try this. It smells rather generic and just fruity sweet (in a Britney Spears Fantasy way) for the first few hours, and then a salt accord comes out to make it more interesting, but overall it just doesn't smell natural which makes it feel juvenile. I actually like it, but would be a little embarrassed to wear it anywhere other than the beach.

I received a sample of this hoping it would be an appropriate summer fragrance. Upon smelling this, I gagged- the cactus flower in this is predominant and made me and my boyfriend extremely sick. It is sweet, but not gourmand, I feel like it smells like some sort of cleaning product (harsh, I know and no offence to anyone who loves this).

On the flip side, for anyone who is interested in buying this and loves this smell, it was long-lasting. I washed my hand several times to get rid of the smell and it still lingered (also in the room where I sprayed it). It also has good sillage, which was unfortunate for me, I kept smelling it on myself.
All in all, I don't think this a safe blind buy and I recommend testing it in store or getting a sample because it did funky things with my chemistry.

Woody, powdery, soft and floral with a touch from the desert. The result is very feminine and elegant on my skin. I think it's beautiful!

I was lucky enough to get a sample of this and I was very excited to try it until I did spray one sweep of it on my wrist. Yikes; this is hideous on me! For some reason it feels like it has too many notes and something discordant going on within the perfume to the extent that it burns my nose and gives me a headache. I had to wash it offscreen about an hour, but it’s still lingering on my skin which leads me to believe the siliage and longevity are probably good.
I didn’t get much creaminess, more of a dusty floral with sharp notes on top of something green and woody. In my opinion it smells deeply synthetic, particularly on my skin but also when spritzed in the air. I so wish I could pick out the note I’m hating so I can avoid it in purfumes going forward but my nose isn’t that sophisticated.

Lancome la vie est Belle is way way better than this ..I sample this at Saks and turns a little stinky so no for me

My goodness what an eclectic bunch of fragrances is in the "reminds me of" box! This can't possible smell like all of them can it?? Yada yada skin chemistry ok hmm maybe.. but I've smelled all of them except the Gelsomino and none seemed similar.. who knows.. because to me this is instantly forgettable, a vague warm dryness like wafts of tumble dryer? Reasonable sillage, a colleague told me she could smell it. She described it as floral.. :/

The fragrance is really pretty, but it’s not as special or as unique as it’s been made out to be. I find that it has similarities to Sun Di Gioia and Margiella’s Beach Walk, wherein there’s an airy, luminescent sweetness present in all three.

charlotteding

This is really nice,it's weird like light but rich, sweet but dry, fresh but has depth, it really reminds me of something I can't put my finger on it and it's bugging me, it's not one of the fragrances listed. I THINK it could be a Hugo boss scent like woman or femme

blackmartini

A bit strong and somewhat generic smelling. Shame as I was really looking forward to this one, the notes seemed so appealing.

kathytr87

I often times have bad chemistry with perfumes but not this one. It smells intoxicating and alluring. I often smell myself because it smells so good. Officially my new summertime fragrance!

Oh my gosh, @MidnightDiva, I spritzed some on a few moments ago, and I was thinking the exact same thing before I came here to read the reviews! It has that dry, sweet yet green feeling like Dune. I need to pull Dune out again! I got Arizona as a free sample. Not sure if I'll need a full bottle, but I do like it. I get a hint of beachiness too, like Bobbi Brown Beach.

mellybabydoll

I’m sitting here trying my sample and feeling pretty underwhelmed. Proenza Schouler is my favorite designer brand and I was thrilled to see them come out with a perfume. This is very soapy and sharp on me. I don’t get any warm or creamy sunny florals whatsoever. 20 minutes in and it’s died down a bit (on the wrist) but just smells incredibly generic, like expensive hair spray or fabric softener. It doesn’t smell bad at all - but it doesn’t smell unique at all, and it’s less than I expected.

criscorbel

Smells like burning flowers in a dessert. I like it.

MidnightDiva

I've only smelled samples, it reminds me of Dior's Dune. I love it.

Arizona has a strong orris/iris note that makes it very lipsticky, especially in the opening. It's also quite sweet. The comparison to Armani Sun di Gioia is justified in my opinion, as they both have that combo of sweetness, waxy iris and sunny beach scent. But I have also thought of MMM Lipstick On and the opening notes of Valentino Donna when I tried this. Honestly, if this liquid was released in a different bottle as "LVEB Solaire" by Lancôme, I wouldn't have even been surprised.
Compared to the other fragrances I mentioned, Arizona is a bit fresher.

If I had to guess the notes, I would say iris, orange blossom, neroli, and either vanilla or a sweet fantasy note like praline or something like that. Something creamy and maybe a hint of citrus. Cactus? I don't know, I don't stick my nose into cactusses on a regular basis, but I would have expected something green and refreshing from that note that I don't find in this fragrance.
Lasting power seems to be average on my skin, or maybe a bit below average.

This perfume doesn't smell bad, but it was disappointing to me. I wanted this to be a somewhat unique sunny scent, the notes sounded exciting, but the scent is neither unique, nor an especially great version of what has been done before.

8 Hours after initial application: This is a creamy floral. My daughter, who has my "nose" mistook it for Gucci Bloom. On second sniff she realized her mistake, and said it smells lovely on its own. I sniffed my Gucci Bloom, which happens to be sitting next to Arizona, and I see some shared DNA. The "creaminess" of the florals is quite similar, and whatever composes the "woody" notes is also in the same category. Arizona has Cactus Flower where Bloom has tuberose, making the fragrances distinctly different, of course. But, to me they are very much along the same lines. If you like Bloom you'll want to try Arizona. Arizona has a lighter, airier feel than Bloom.

In addition to the cactus flower, the orange blossom and jasmine are outstanding. Both notes are noticeable in a way that only La Chasse aux Papillons has mangaged to capture in anything I've smelled. Arizona is classified as a Floral Woody Musk, but it is mostly a floral, for sure. At first it's syruppy and so juicy it's like sipping an orange blossom-jasmine bouquet. Overall this is much, much sweeter than I expected, because as it dries down I am basking in velvety cashmeran. I am in love. This fragrance is so "me" it could be bespoke. It smells like Sonoran Desert air, it really does.

greenbluegray

All I smelled was the strip in Marie Claire, but it was giving me some vintage New West! More modern, maybe New West mixed with a woody floral? I am eager to read more reviews as people wear and smell beyond the scent strip!

Perfumeaddict777

I smell this in a magazine so maybe on Skin it's different. But it smells almost exactly like lipstick on. I love it and wonder how the silage and longevity is. I can smell cactus... it's light, sweet , fresh . There's some vanilla mixed with the beautiful lipsticky iris.

Who is she? The model. She has a perfect beautiful "clean face" with savage aspects. Good choice.

I love also the bottle asymmetric. Blend of smooth curves and rigid lines.

The notes sound originals.

The name daring.

Finally a pound of creativity into the desert of all the same.

I hope the fragrance wouldn't smell like SÌ at the end.
